Robot Cyclist

There is a long-held view that robots will, or should, exist to relieve human from the drudgery of everyday life. They should be used for tasks too tedious, or too dangerous for humans to perform. Now, at last, both goals have been achieved in one robot…

Over in Japan,  Dr.Guero has take a fairly standard biped robot, the Kondo KHR3HV biped, a custom bicycle and some clever control software to make a biped robot that can ride a bicycle just like a human. Even down to using its feet as brakes.

The web site (http://ai2001.ifdef.jp/) is in Japanese but Google Translate will be able to turn it into nonsense for you.

If you have a burning desire to go out and make your own, you will need talent and deep pockets.
