MicromouseOnline blog

IMG_1846 The root of the MicromouseOnline site is managed by a CMS. This is all very well and provides functionality that I could not create in a reasonable time (if at all) by writing it all myself. However, like all such systems, moulding them to your needs can be painful. One of the things it cannot do terribly well is create a blog. Although the blog entries on the site seem to work, they leave a little to be desired in terms of flexibility. Thus, I have added a ‘proper’ blog to the site and transferred most of the blog-like entries from the root site to this blog. Archie (left) clearly likes the whole idea.

It will still be possible to have multiple authors but the whole process of creating content seems much easier. In particular, adding images is much more simple and I can use offline tools to create content and then upload them later.

This post is being written with the free Microsoft Live Writer - a windows tool that knows how to talk to a number of standard blogging systems. A great additional advantage of this tool is the ability to insert, manipulate and watermark images as part of the post while working with the source material on my PC.
